What is a Building Survey?
The RICS building survey (formerly known as the full structural) is the most extensive and detailed form of RICS survey report. The building survey report should be commissioned for larger and older properties, buildings that are in particularly poor condition or when major work is planned. It gives detailed information about the structure and fabric as well as a detailed analysis of defects found, including recommendations for any necessary remedial works. It also contains the clear traffic light rating system found within the condition and homebuyers reports and also includes:
• A more thorough inspection and a detailed report covering a wider range of issues
• A detailed description and analysis of identified defects and potential problems
• An outline of suggested defect remediation options and the consequences of inactivity
• An advice section for your legal advisers attention
